Constance is passionate about helping youth. In 2000 she created a Foundation to provide funding to less advantaged children in academics. She quickly discovered that funding these projects was not enough and became an active volunteer with the Boy’s and Girl’s Clubs. There she created a literacy program called “The Reading Wizards” designed to help children improve their reading and comprehension skills. She presented the successful program at the National Education Summit, which resulted in the program being adopted across the nation. After working many hours a week with these youth she decided that the reading club was not enough and she decided to mentor a group of youth from elementary school through college. Her College Bound program has helped dozens of youth who have graduated college and are living successful and productive lives as they also give back to their communities. These youth have now become “her kids”. She is a National Trustee and Vice Chair (Pacific Region) for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, sits on the President’s Advisory Board for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Peninsula, co-founder of a local Boys and Girls Club and Founder of the College Bound/Achievement Matters after school program in Marin County. She is a Founding Trustee for KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) Bay Area Schools, and co-creator of the course “Decision Making for Teens”. She has been honored with numerous awards for her work with underserved youth.
